sends up signals before meaning.

people puzzle away,
for everything
measures something.
an incomplete education
reveals us
as we dress for success.

four-in-hand knot,
a penchant for things
as we would have
them be,
starting with dreams,
then finding ourselves
out on the town
with strangers.
